Billingshurst / Rowfold Area - 30/11/05
A farm at Rowfold has fallen victim to a theft. Stolen were a number of crates of highly specialised items - "streamer cable end connectors" made of stainless steel and titanium. They are described as measuring from a few inches to 3 metres in length. They are maked Geco Prakla. Their true value is £20k, but as scrap they are worth around £2k. Should you see these starnge items anywhere, please ring the police on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 660:29:11:05. 

Cowfold Area - 23/11/05
Following a number of reports of suspected badge baiting activity in the vicinity of Picts Lane, Cowfold, the following vehicle has been seen in suspicious circumstances in the area. Police are looking for a white Vauxahll Nova Trip VRM J236KKL. Members are asked to report any sightings of this vehicle on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 514:22:11:05 

A success Ashington Area - 24/11/05
A Farm Watch member spotted a white Transit van VRM M689YOW that was recently circulated. He followed the vehicle whilst calling the police on his 'hands free'. The vehicle was followed to Washington where it was intercepted by the Police, stopped and the details of the occupants taken. An excellent piece of co-operation, which proves the value of the Farm Watch initiative. 

Amberley Area - 23/11/05
A New Zealand horse coat was stolen from a horse in a field between 4pm on Tuesday 22/11/05 and 8.00am Wednesday 23/11/05. The coat was maroon with silver straps.

East Grinstead Area - 22/11/05
In Worsted Lane East Grinstead between 8.00am and 10.30am whilst the residents were out, a tack room was broken into. The thieves stole all of the tack plus a western saddle, the offenders then wen to the house, ripped the door lock off and stole four eight week old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies. Serial 412 of 22:11:05 refers.  

Parham  /  Mid Sussex Area - 15/11/05
A Farm Watch member from Parham has reported a suspicious vehicle on his land yesterday afternoon (14/11). The Police would like people to keep an eye out for a gold VW Passat registration number V656DHO and inform them immediately of sightings on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 1145 of 14/11/05 if teh vehicle is seen. 

Crawley Down / North Mid Sussex Area - 10/11/05
This morning in Sandy Lane, Crawley Down a wood chipping machine was stolen from the back of a van. Two white men were seen to load it into a white Ford Transit van index number M689YOW. This particular  van has been seen in suspicious circumstances in the northern part of Mid Sussex recently, so any further sightings please ring in immediately on 0845 60 70 999

Storrington / Pulborough  Area - 9/11/05
Last night the locks were forced off two stables Kithurst Farm Lane, Storrington. nothing was apparently stolen. Serial 202:09:11:05 refers

Worth Area - 2/11/05
In Turners hill Road at Worth 2 men tried to steal a generator from a farm. They are described as follows:
1) Male, aged mid 20s, white 5'08" tall of medium build
2) Male, aged mid 20s, white 6'02" tall, stockily built
Both men were wearing jeans and lumberjack shirts.
They made off in a silve Mitsubishi Warrior 4x4 vehicle registartion number taken as GRO4YRY

FROM KENT HORSEWATCH - 17.10.05 - information sought re Running Horse Equestrian Centre in Maidstone.

Another pony was placed with Sharon Cooper at the end of June / beginning of
July for Sharon to sell with the owners permission of first seeing the buyer
and also where she was going to.

Sharon's husband came and collected the pony from the owner's yard and took
her to The Running Horse Equestrian Centre in Maidstone.

The owner called Sharon to make sure that the pony had got there ok and all
was well and Sharon told the owner she would ring her when she had someone
who was interested in her.

Well apparently weeks went into months and then Sharon called to ask the
owners about her passport which was at the vets for them to fill in for the
owner regarding the pony's injections so it was all on her passport.  Sharon
asked the owner if she could have the passport as at the time she was
sorting out all the passports so Sharon went to the vets to collect it.

Time still went on and the owners never heard from Sharon and then the
owners rang Sharon to see if there was any news on the pony and Sharon said
she had someone was interested in her so she was going to get back to the
owner when the person was coming to look at Summer and that was the last
time the owners spoke to Sharon.  The owners have tried calling Sharon's
mobile numbers but never got through to her.

SUMMER IS 13HH CHESTNUT MARE WITH 2 WHITE SOCKS ON HER BACK LEGS AND HAS A
WHITE BLAZE.

Following a major police search after the theft of a Volvo from Crawley Down am 12/10/05 the stolen Landrover Discovery GU04EWV from the farm at Graffham was found in the car park at a pub at Staplefield. A man and a woman who had been enjoying their lunch made an attempt to escape through the toilets. They only succeeded in cornering themselves as there was no way out. They were arrested and taken to Crawley Police Station. The black Landrover Freelander Y507FGW is still outstanding.

Seven Stolen Saddles / Sullington Area
12/10/05
A total of seven saddles were stolen overnight from two different tack rooms at a farm in Sullington. The tack room was padlocked at 8.30pm and the theft was discovered the following morning. The padlocks were also stolen. Nothing was seen or heard.

Two stolen 4 x 4 vehicles
Yesterday, (11th OCtober 2005) in the late morning a dark green Landrowver Discovery GU04EWV was stolen from a farm at Graffham near Petworth and, in the early afternoon, a black Landrover Freelander Y507FGW was stolen from Dormansland. It is believed that these crimes are connected. Both vehicles are outstanding at the time of this message.

Farmwatch and Horsewatch members are advised to keep your vehicles secureley locked and to remove items of value when vehicle is unattended. keep your keys with you. Please let friends and neighbours know of this emerging trend at rural locations. Please don't make life easy for theives. 

North Sussex Area

The following circulation is from the Kent County Constabulary and Surrey Police advising members of a vehicle crime trend that seems to be creeping towards us in Sussex. Please do not leave items of value in vehicles especially the keys !!
Kent have had a number of 4x4 vehicles stolen which have subsequently been
used in crime, primarily thefts of tack from farms and stable yards.

Kent circulation which is self explanatory:
Tack Theft & Burglaries:
North Kent (the Gravesend & Dartford area) are suffering a spate of tack burglaries.
West Kent are suffering from thefts of equine equipment and accessories from
insecure or open fronted buildings and boxes.
Between 8 & 11:30pm 27/09/2005 a blue and silver Mitsubishi L300 pick-up colour blue and silver registration number W227DKE was stolen from a driveway in Plaxtol. This vehicle is still recorded as being outstanding as stolen.

Kent Police crime report BZ/11827/05

We have now had a similar theft of a 4x4 in Surrey.
Stolen from a yard in Smallfield, Surrey, 07/10/2005, was a Mitsubishi Shogun colour red, registration number M961PDP. This vehicle was still recorded as outstanding at time of this message. The vehicle had been left insecure with the keys in a door pocket. Surrey Police ref B/05/2083
