Title: ITS RAVE SEASON AGAIN!

The rural rave season has started with a very noisy night rave on the South Downs at Kithurst Hill near Storrington over the last weekend, which disturbed many local residents. If you own land that may be attractive to illegal rave organisers please consider additional measures that would frustrate vehicle access and make these much more difficult to set up.

Most raves occur at weekends and the set up will often start at dusk. If you see vehicles that may be used to carry rave equipment accessing remote locations especially on the South Downs please contact the police immediately. Raves are often very difficult for the police to close down once they have established themselves, but can often be stopped before the music starts.

Arun District: WELCOMING ARUN DISTRICT TO FARMWATCH - 21/4/06

They do say that no news is good news, so I am very pleased to report that the Horse Watch has been quiet recently because there has been very little crime reported within our rural area. We must all be doing something right!

However please don’t become complacent as most thieves are opportunists.

Although things have been quiet we have not been slacking and are pleased to welcome the Arun district of Sussex covering the rural areas of Arundel, Littlehampton and Bognor to the Farmwatch. Although they will be sending their own messages it does give us the opportunity to have some overlap and we will be sharing the Farmline telephone messaging system on 0800 32 88 166 and Internet web address of http://www.sussex.police.uk/farmline/ so you will notice some differences next time you call or connect.

Remember if you see any suspicious activity please phone and report it to The Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, the more we look out for each other the more difficult it is for thieves to operate.

Sussex / Surrey - 14/02/06
The following carriages were stolen from stables in Milford Surrey,  on the 26th January 06 between 5pm and 12.30am . The thieves cut thick chains and industrial padlocks as well as fences.

The first carriage is a custom made blue vehicle and would suit 11hh-12hh pony. It is oxford blue with a red stick on pin stripe, an old red bus seat which has had a tear repaired with stitching and has a black paint mark on the seat as well. The floor and steps are covered in a ribbed rubber matt and glued to the floor. Underneath the boxed seat there is a wicker basket. There is no whip holder as it has previously been broken off and finally the vehicle is set on spoked moped wheels

The second vehicle is a dark green factory made John Hillam of West Yorkshire to suit a 13.2hh-14.2hh. It is one of the early models with a cylinder shaped black back rest and black seat which is in poor condition on the drivers side. It has a boarded floor that has been varnished and a wicker basket that sits in the middle under the seat. It is set on black 5 spoked aluminium motorbike wheels.

The third vehicle is blue and made of an angle iron frame to suit a large shetland to approx 11hh. It has a slated wooden floor and dash and the seat was in poor condition. The spoked wheels are badly rusted and has adjustable shafts in length and width via U bolt clamps on the angle iron frame.

Anyone with any information on these vehicles should call the Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 and quote serial reference 593:14:02:06

Mid and North Sussex, Surrey and Kent Areas - 16/12/05
The police are extremely concerned that the rural area is set to be hit by an increase in unattended and insecure vehicles being stolen, following the release of a man from prison. The offender is usually abandoning a stolen vehicle close to the scene of his next theft, taking any opportunity to change stolen cars when he comes across a vehicle that has not been locked with keys removed to a safe location. Please ensure that all vehicles are left locked. On no account leave a vehicle with keys in it. An isolated location does not mean that your vehicle is safe!
Although 4x4s are the favoured vehicle type yesterday afternoon ( 20th December ) a Seat unattended with its engine running was stolen from Dormansland Surrey with a stolen vehicle abandoned at the scene. Serial 903 0f 20/12/2005 Operation Sedan refers.
Please, please do not leave unattended vehicles unlocked even in your drive and keep the keys with you. This offender is about in our area.
