Title: HORSE TACK THEFT
During the afternoon of 08/05/06 there was a theft of a pink leather western saddle and pink leather bridle with bit and breast plate from a property near to Highdown Hill, Ferring. It is believed there were three offenders described as:
- One male 507/508ft stocky, dark skinned, bald.
- One woman 504ft wearing winter clothing, big coat, fluffy boots, dark hair.
- Second woman 504ft blonde with ponytail, cream jacket and green wellies.
The offenders were seen to get into a white Astra Van registration T962 KBP. This vehicle is known to be actively involved in crime in the Chichester area please report all sightings of this vehicle to Sussex Police quoting serial number 938 08/05/06.

Sussex Horse Watch are delighted to announce that stolen Dutch Warm Blood 'Millie' missing/stolen from farm in West Sussex since 2001 has been traced to a farm near Tunbridge Wells and has since been reunited with owner Samantha Cordingley. Sam had given up all hope of ever seeing Millie again. Millie's return is in no small part due to the combined efforts of the Horsewatch team.

Theft of tack from Albourne Area

at Albourne Equestrian Centre, Henfield Road, Albourne – 1900 hrs to 0830 hrs 26/7/05 to 27/7/05 a report of both stable/garage breaks at the location – tack and garden equipment stolen. Serials 352 and 470 of 27/7/05 refer.
Attempted theft of tack Storrington Area

An attempt was made to steal tack from a farm in Newhouse Lane, Storrington overnight Tuesday, 26th July / am 27th July. Doors were forced and an attempt made to force a padlock. The thieves were defeated by the padlock, but quite an amount of damage was caused.
Recovered Saddle

The following saddle has been recovered in Surrey. Described as a Farrindons dressage saddle and girth, together with a snaffle bridle. If you have lost such an item, or know of anyone who has, please phone Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting ref P2544670.

Recovered Tack

PC Angie Keeley at Steyning has recovered a large quantity of tack that is almost certainly stolen, much of it may originate in Sussex. These items can be viewed on the Virtual Bumblebee web site. This property has been with the Police since 24th February 2005 and she is concerned that as much of the property as possible is restored to its rightful owners.

TARMAC - SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE BARNS GREEN. A white Transit style flat bed panel with a blue cab offering to resurface drive in Sand Hills Lane Barns Green. Direction of travel towards Barns Green. Vehicle not with person canvassing. vehicle parked a considerable distance away to make it impossible to obtain registration number. Any similar reports please obtain VRM and inform police directly - Serial 1225:16:07:05 refers.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE ITCHINGFIELD
A white transit panel van registration number N 903 BFC has been seen in suspicious circumstances at a farm in Bashurst Hill, Itchingfield at 1240 pm today (Friday 15th July 2005).The vehicle contained 2 males one about 50yrs the other a teenager. When challenged they gave dubious reasons for being at the premises and drove off. Please report sightings to the police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 864 of 15/07/2005
Ifield, Crawley District

Suspect vehicle Blue Mazda G445VKK.
At 4.15pm on 22nd June 2005, a farmer in Prestwood Lane, Ifield on the border between Crawley and Horsham Police District reported that a blue Mazda VRM G445VKK had driven into his yard. He viewed the 2 white male occupants with suspicion. Police enquiries reveal that this vehicle has also been seen in suspicious circumstances in Surrey and also at East Hoathly where it is believed to be connected to a burglary on 10th June. Please keep your eyes peeled for this vehicle and report any sightings directly to the police quoting this serial number

Stable block broken into overnight
Burglary took place overnight 22nd June, in Turners Hill Road, Crawley Down, offenders broke the padlocks off stable block to gain entry. They stole a trail motorbike, 2 saddles, bridles and general horse equipment. Serial number 324 22/6 refers to this incident.
Horsham and Steyning District

Everyone enjoys a good barbecue and Horsham Police's Sergeant Paul Ransome is no exception. Paul has recently 'acquired' a barbecue which he feels is very likely to have been stolen, quite possibly from the Horsham / Crawley area.
He says, "If or when we enjoy a bit of decent weather someone is going to go to their garage or shed for their barbecue to find that the crucial item missing".

Between 9pm last night and 7.30 am this morning (9/6/05) a horse carriage has been stolen from a barn at Gardeners Green, Rusper. The offenders cut through a fence having no regard to the horses loose in the field and cropped the chain securing the carriage. A trailer would be needed to remove the carriage.
The carriage is described as an 8yr old European Carriage Company (ECC) Marathon “O” 2+2 black with wooden panels, chassis no 1209. The drivers seat has cat claw marks and is extra wide, the rear cushions are held in with grey duck tape having been recently removed following water damage and has single horse shafts with some damage following a spill. Police reference 225 of 09/06/05 refers.
10/6 ATTEMPT TO ENTER FARMLAND WOODS MILL Yesterday (9th June 2005) an attempt was made to enter farmland in Woods Mill near Henfield. A number of gates, padlocks and chains were removed in an apparent attempt to facilitate entry. It is thought by the land owners that that this may have been an attempt to start an illegal encampment.
Members are asked to be alert in case of unlawful intrusion on their land in this area. Don't forget that this is also rave season, if you witness the early signs of a rave please phone the Police immediately as they can be very difficult to stop once they have become established.

19/5 QUAD BIKE THEFT AND SCRAP METAL THIEVES A red Honda quad bike has been stolen overnight 17th to 18th May 2005 from a field shelter at Greatham near Pulborough. The bike had a sprayer attached to the rear. The previous week 2 men were seen in suspicious circumstances in this remote area asking for rabbit shooting rights. They were both short, burley in their mid to late 30's driving a dark blue battered pickup. Police serial reference 1265 of 18th May 2005 refers.
10/5 SUSPICIOUS MALES/VAN In Rocky Lane, Haywards Heath around 17.00hrs 9/5 report of a Blue Transit Van believed the index number to read Y929 FFC entered farmyard, when challenged - 2 white males one described as around 35 yrs, 6ft, short light coloured hair - asked about purchasing some fertilizer and then quickly drove off. Police are interested in any further sightings of this van, if seen in your area please ring in quoting serial 1141 9th May.
25/4 STOLEN HORSEBOX & HANDBAG THEFT A large horsebox was stolen from Southlands Lane, West Chiltington overnight between Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April. The horsebox is a Ford Cargo and has a cab, the plates on it are A353 WDA. It is painted green, with the word 'showjumpers' written on the front, the word 'horses' on the back and the word 'equicruiser' on the side with the number 3. It also has a gold stripe down the side. The vehicle was parked in a yard and was visible from the road. Please report any sightings of this vehicle to the police immediately by telephoning 0845 60 70 999 qoting serial no. 833
